The I.S.E.O Summer School 2012 will be focused on topical issues which takes inspiration from the most recent economic actuality.
Nobel Laureates and outstanding economists from all over the world will lecture every day and will be at disposal of the attendants for the whole week.
Lecturers will focus on several important aspects of the new global economic equilibrium. On one hand they will try to define which could be the most important and innovative aspects of a new, alternative global welfare, both as a result and as a solution to the crisis. In other words: how will the welfare state change and evolve, after the consequences of the global crisis? Lectures will be focused on social and pension reforms, new industry and trade norms, job market and the unemployment issue, the importance of emerging countries and new opportunities for sustainable economics.
On the other hand Nobel Laureates and leading experts will concentrate their discussion on the financial system. They will try to answers to these crucial questions: is financial stability an utopia? If not, how can the global economies restore international markets stability after the crisis? |

| The school |

The I.S.E.O Summer School consists of a whole week spent in Iseo (Italy) combining the unique chance to learn and discuss economics with Nobel Laureates with the interesting opportunities to visit Northern Italy.
The course takes place in a multi-ethnical, informal and stimulating atmosphere where young graduates from all over the world can gather to share important experiences both from an academic and human point of view.
Attendants will spend every day of the week combining lectures and debates with Nobel laureates and speakers with interesting tours to the most beautiful corners of northern Italy, such as Venice or the prestigious wine area Franciacorta.
As far as the academic contents are concerned, every lecture is made of a fair combination between frontal speech and debates with the students: usually the lecturer dedicates the first hour of his class for a frontal lecture and then leaves the remaining two hours for a highly stimulating debate with the participants.
The location where the courses are and also where attendants/speakers stay is a wonderful 4 star hotel in Iseo, facing the lake: the hotel is gifted with sport facilities and wonderful green areas where attendants can relax and spend free time after the lectures. Participants have also several opportunities to visit the lovely town of Iseo and admire the landscape of Iseo lake.

| Application and Scholarships |
|
The I.S.E.O Summer School is reserved to talented students who already graduated in Economics or Social Sciences (especially young graduates as master or Phd students), no matter if they are still studying or are already working. The applicants must speak and understand English perfectly as it's the only official language of the summer course.
Criteria for admission to the Summer School are based on curriculum vitae and students' motivation. In order to apply, students have to fill in the application form downloadable from the bottom of this page.
The application form should be sent via email together with a personal cv and a personal picture by the 23rd April 2012 to the Summer School Secretariat: summerschool@istiseo.org. Early application is highly encouraged since enrolment is limited. Applicants who come from a non European Country should apply as soon as possible in order to have enough time to apply also for the international visa, as this process can take up to a couple of months.
The fee amounts to € 2.400,00 and shall have to be paid via bank transfer by 21st May 2012. The fee includes: the course and the academic material, full boarding staying in a 4 star hotel (breakfast, lunch and dinner are included for the entire week), trips and local transportation for the excursions. Personal expenses and any other expense not expressly stated are not included. Accomodation will be in double or triple room.
I.S.E.O Institute awards some talented students with scholarships amounting to € 1,500.00. Therefore awarded students shall have to pay just the remaining € 900,00.
Applying for this scholarship is really easy: the application to the course automatically involves the request for the scholarship.
A special committee will evaluate all the applications and will decide which students to award with the scholarship. This decision will be taken according to the cv, the profile and the academic or professional experience of each enrolled student, together with the motivation to participate to the course.

| I.S.E.O Summer School "Your lecture" |
|
The I.S.E.O Summer School committee offers the chance to one or even more attendants to present his or her research in front of the whole group of participants and also in front of some speakers.
In order to take this chance (which is optional and not compulsory at all), attendants have to submit a paper together with the application form. The paper has to be related to the topic of the Summer School 2012.
After the deadline, the valuating committee will consider all the papers submitted and will decide which participant will have the unique chance to explain his or her research during the week of the Summer School. |
