A novembre 2026 l’Università degli Studi di Brescia ospiterà, grazie alla collaborazione con la Fondazione I.S.E.O., il professor Michael Spence, Premio Nobel per l’Economia 2001, nell’ambito della terza edizione della Franco Modigliani – Robert Solow – I.S.E.O. Temporary Chair in Economic Sciences.

Istituita nel 2024 grazie alla collaborazione tra l’Università degli Studi di Brescia e la Fondazione I.S.E.O., la prestigiosa cattedra è dedicata alla memoria di Franco Modigliani e Robert Solow, premi Nobel per l’Economia e figure centrali nella storia della Fondazione I.S.E.O., di cui furono rispettivamente fondatore e presidente.

Dopo le prime due edizioni che hanno visto come visiting professors i Premi Nobel Robert Engle e Robert Merton, quest’anno la cattedra accoglierà Michael Spence, uno tra i più autorevoli economisti contemporanei. Il Senato Accademico, con una delibera del 18 maggio 2026, ha assegnato ufficialmente la cattedra a Spence, professore Emerito alla Graduate School of Business di Stanford, di cui è stato per molti anni preside.

All’Università di Brescia il professor Spence terrà il corso intitolato“Growth Prospects, Patterns and Challenges in a Shock Prone Global Economy”, rivolto agli studenti dei corsi di laurea magistrale in Economia e del Dottorato di Ricerca.

In November 2026, the University of Brescia will welcome, thanks to its collaboration with the Fondazione I.S.E.O., Professor Michael Spence, recipient of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, as part of the third edition of the Franco Modigliani – Robert Solow – I.S.E.O. Temporary Chair in Economic Sciences.

Established in 2024 through the collaboration between the University of Brescia and the I.S.E.O. Foundation, the prestigious chair is dedicated to the memory of Franco Modigliani and Robert Solow, Nobel laureates in Economics and key figures in the history of the I.S.E.O. Foundation, serving respectively as its founder and president.

Following the first two editions, which featured Nobel laureates Robert Engle and Robert Merton as visiting professors, this year’s chair will host Michael Spence, one of the world’s leading economists. The Academic Senate, by a resolution dated May 18, 2026, officially awarded the chair to Spence, Professor Emeritus at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he served as dean for many years.
At the University of Brescia, Professor Spence will teach the course entitled “Growth Prospects, Patterns and Challenges in a Shock Prone Global Economy,” aimed at students of Master’s degree programs in Economics and the PhD program.
