The I.S.E.O. Institute, the University of Brescia, and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Brescia partnered to host the second edition of the Nanochemistry Camp, an international summer school designed for master’s and doctoral students in chemistry and related disciplines, with a special focus on nanochemistry.
The program offered top-tier, cutting-edge insights into key topics in nanochemistry through an innovative and original format that brought together 40 PhD candidates, master’s students, and postdoctoral researchers coming from 21 countries and 32 universities, alongside globally renowned experts, including a Nobel Laureate. The relaxed, informal atmosphere of Camping del Sole, a picturesque campsite overlooking Lake Iseo, provided an ideal setting for deep learning, collaboration, and community building.
Participants attended lectures by seven distinguished international experts: Debora Berti (University of Florence), Carla Bittencourt (University of Mons), Alain Celzard (University of Lorraine), Elisabetta Collini (University of Padua), Steven De Feyter (KU Leuven), Morten Meldal (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2022, University of Copenhagen), and Emilio M. Pérez (IMDEA Nanociencia).
The program encouraged lively academic exchange through numerous opportunities to engage with professors and peers. A highlight was the poster session held on the lakefront, where participants presented their research and discussed ideas and future projects in an inspiring outdoor setting.
In addition to the scientific program, the week included several leisure activities such as a visit to Monte Isola with a hike to the summit, kayaking on Lake Iseo, and a guided tour of the city of Brescia, including the archaeological site of the Capitolium.
A memorable moment of the camp was the gala dinner at the renowned Berlucchi winery, where participants received certificates of attendance, and awards were given for the best poster presentations.
