FUTURO MATERIALE - Nanotecnologie e materiali del futuro, fra crescita e sostenibilità

Speakers

Luca Beverina

Università Milano-Bicocca

During the second edition of the Nanochemistry Camp, the I.S.E.O. Institute hosted its 62nd international conference in collaboration with the University of Brescia and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Brescia. The public lecture was delivered by Professor Luca BEVERINA (University of Milano-Bicocca), who guided the audience on a fascinating journey into the future of materials.

To support sustainable development, we need to envision the materials of the future. But which ones? According to scientists, these will have to be materials that do not consume resources but instead “borrow” from those already available, relying on advanced technological solutions and nanotechnologies. In his lecture, Beverina has guided the audience on a fascinating journey into tomorrow, imagining future materials capable of combining economic growth with environmental awareness.

“Imagining the materials of the future literally means coming to terms with millennia of technological development, thousands of different materials, and the most diverse applications – explains Beverina -. Far from any encyclopedic ambition, this presentation has introduced some key concepts to show how the development of new materials and technological solutions represents a critical step to ensure sustainable development in a world today more than ever precariously balanced between economic growth and environmental awareness”.

The event, titled “Futuro Materiale – Nanotecnologie e materiali del futuro, fra crescita e sostenibilità” (“Future Material – Nanotechnologies and the Materials of Tomorrow, Between Growth and Sustainability”), was part of the second edition of the Nanochemistry Camp, an international summer school for PhD students in chemistry and physics. Organized by the I.S.E.O. Institute in partnership with the University of Brescia and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the camp took place in Iseo from September 26 to October 3.
During the week, 40 young researchers from around the world attended lectures by leading scientists, including Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Morten Meldal.

The public lecture was held on Thursday October 2, 2025, at the prestigious Guido Berlucchi Winery in Franciacorta.
